'Myremecophaga tamandua' [Giant anteater] and 'Manis javanica' [Sunda pangolin]
Zoological studies of two specimens of insectivorous animals. Figure 1 is the Giant anteater (modern taxonomy Myrmecophaga tridactyla) from South America at one-quarter life size, with an inset detail of the scaly skin from the animal's tail. The image was drawn from a stuffed specimen at Stuttgart, Germany. Figure 2 is the Sunda pangolin (Manis javanica) from South-east Asia at one-third life size. Plate 2 from the book Atomisches untersuchungen uber die Edentaten, by Wilhelm von Rapp (Tubingen, 1843). .' Inscribed: 'Taf. 2.1/4 d naturlichen Grosse.
