Skeleton of an extinct bird, the North Island Adzebill, Aptornis otidiformis displayed at the Canterbury Museum, New Zealand. Plate 9 from Geology of the provinces of Canterbury and Westland, New Zealand by Julius von Haast (Christchurch, 1879). The plate is inscribed: 'ph.Easter & Wallis. Printed by M.Jaffe, Vienna. Skeleton of Aptornis otidiformis Owen in the Canterbury Museum.' Sir [Johann Franz] Julius von Haast] (1822-1887) German geologist active in New Zealand was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society in 1867.
