A Tapoa Tafa (Eastern quoll)
Zoological study of the Eastern Quoll (Dasyurus viverrinus), a marsupial originally native to Australia (but now extinct there) found also in Tasmania. Plate 59 from Journal of a voyage to New South Wales...by John White (J.Debrett, London, 1790). The accompanying text states that this is the same species as the preceding plate (of the Brush-tailed phascogale) but is most likely a near-black variety of the Quoll. The plate is inscribed: 'C. Catton junr. Delin. A Tapoa Tafa. Published as the Act directs Dec: 29, 1789, by J.Debrett.'
Original: copperplate engraving. 1790
