Anne Sidney and James Fox

Bill Rowntree

Ann Sidney and James Fox relaxing during a break in shooting the film Performance. The film is the story of a criminal, played by James Fox, a member of a protection organisation who falls foul of both his colleagues and the law by committing murder. Ann Sidney appears in the film as one of his girlfriends. While trying to escape his pursuers, Chas Devlin, (the criminal), takes refuge in the home of a former entertainer, Turner, (to be played by Mick Jagger), now living in seclusion and experimenting with musical forms. The confrontation between the criminal and the musician is the main theme of the picture. Ann Sidney, who was Miss World 1964, was given her part in 'Performance' when model Vicki Hodge was dropped. Althpugh Vicki had been originally cast for the film, she lost the part because equity, the actors union, refused her a membership card. 6th August 1968
